Kissimee Chain of Lakes - Kissimmee, FL

Tackle Warehouse Invitationals

February 21st-23rd, 2025

This was my third time visiting Lake Toho and the Kissimmee Chain of Lakes.  In this system we launch on Lake Toho and you have the ability to lock out of that lake and head South to the Kissimmee Chain which consist of five other lakes.  These lakes are connected by a series of canals.  This year I decided to concentrate two days of my practice on Lake Kissimmee and the final day on Lake Toho.  On Lake Kissimmee I was targeting spawning type areas.  These areas consisted of scattered pads mixed with Kissimmee grass.  The fish were bedding in these areas and I would pitch in a Texas rigged senko.  Black with a blue tip is a staple in that part of the country for bedding fish.  Also around the outside of these areas I would throw a vibrating jig either in golden shiner or black/blue.  The first day of the event I went to Lake Kissimmee and was able to catch a limit weighing 15-6 anchored by a 6 pounder.  I locked back into Lake Toho around noon hoping to cull a few of the smaller fish, but was unable to improve.  This landed me in 32nd place for day one.  The second day of the event brought on a light East wind and conditions were much more difficult for me.  Once again I locked into Lake Kissimmee and caught a limit this time much smaller and only around 8 pounds.  I had my chance for a big upgrade but didn’t capitalize and lost the fish on the way to the boat. By early afternoon I locked back into Toho and was able to catch a few upgrades but only by ounces.  I finished the event in 67th place with 24-2.
