Lake Hartwell - Anderson, SC
Tackle Warehouse Invitationals
March 14th-16th, 2025
This was my third time visiting Lake Hartwell in South Carolina. The lake was near normal levels and clarity ranged from 12’ near the dam to stained in the creek arms. The first two days of practice I spent fishing the lower portion of the lake using my forward facing sonar targeting pre-spawn bass in ditches leading back to spawning areas. I was able to catch fish this way, but not much for quality. The third day of practice I ran up one of the rivers and fished some creeks. In these areas it was primarily stained water and more power fishing techniques. I concentrated on the back halves of the creeks as the bass were starting to position to spawn. The water temperatures when we began practice was in the mid 50’s, but by the end of the event they had reached the low 60’s and some fish found their way to bedding. The first day of the tournament I caught all my bass on a crankbait in less than 8’ of water. These fish were relating to rock and were all pre-spawn. My limit weighed 11-7 and had me in 68th place. The second day of the event this group of fish had moved farther back in the creek and then I transitioned to a spinnerbait. The key areas were docks and wood. These fish were setting up near this cover getting ready to make their final move to the back to spawn. I was able to find a group of pre-spawn females and got several good bites that last day. My final day limit weighed 14-7 with a two day total of 25-14 that moved me to 43rd for the event. It was a good event for me just was never able to capitalize on a big bite to make the move to the top thirty.
